During the 2016 Fulbright English Program, I mentored 18 new English Teaching Assistants. The new ETAs I was mentoring observed my classes, and each taught one or two lessons in my classroom. After each lesson, I provided extensive feedback and worked with the ETAs to create stronger lessons. I also assisted ETAs who did not have prior teaching experience in writing their lesson plans, and gave tips for classroom management and instruction.
Outside of the classroom, ETAs also led activities during the Activity Weekend and assisted with Night Fun activities. While ETAs were leading the activities, instructors assisted and helped keep students engaged. 2016 was also the second year of an extended Junior Counselor program, which aimed to provided more leadership experience. As such, JCs helped in the classroom 2 or 3 times a week by leading an activity or preparing their own activities. In addition, JCs helped in the club classes. As the instructor, I helped JCs to design and lead their activity, providing support where needed.
